The "East Meets West" Orchestral Concert - Coming to Adelaide

Following a fully sold-out performance at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall just last month, the “East Meets West” Orchestral Concert Tour will be making its final rounds at Adelaide Town Hall 7:30-9:30pm on the 17th of November 2022.

Featuring a stellar lineup of Eastern and Western Classics such as the representative Chinese works the “Butterfly Lovers” Violin Concerto and the “Yellow River” Piano Concerto alongside Georges Bizet’s “Habanera” as heard in Carmen, this is sure to be an unforgettable evening of exquisite entertainment.

Performed by Australia’s extraordinary local talent, esteemed musical performers, and the outstanding Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, the “East Meets West” Orchestral Concert 2022 is a colourful compilation of internationally celebrated classical masterpieces conducted by renowned music maestro Guy Noble.

An ethereal yet haunting rendition of He Zhanho and Chen Gang’s “Butterfly Lovers” violin concerto will be showcased in a stunning synthesis of Eastern and Western sensibilities achieved through the artful juxtaposition of traditional pentatonic melodies and harmonic undertones from the West. This internationally recognized violin concerto is based on an ancient Chinese legend recounting the unbreakable bond between two young lovers, often referred to as China’s very own “Romeo and Juliet”.

The “Yellow River” Piano Concerto is another expressive Chinese masterpiece that will feature on the night. This concerto is an engrossing composition that integrates the classical qualities and typical structure of post-romantic music with poignant themes of passion, beauty and strength. All of this is then paired with a series of technically advanced solos that will leave viewers entranced throughout an enchanting night of unparalleled performances.
