Experience musical celebrations of the Lunar New Year 2023
The Lunar New Year Concert 2023 is an evening of the orchestral concert to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year at Sydney Town Hall on Friday, 10 February 2023.
George Ellis, one of Australia's most talented conductors and composers will lead the extraordinary Willoughby Symphony Orchestra together with the selected popular Australian Chinese soloists including popular soprano Cathy-Di Zhang, baritone Haotian Qi, Peking opera singer Yan Wu, Erhu Tuqiang Zhang and the Sydney Chinese Music Ensemble. This all-star cast brings you remarkable and immersive live music experience of authentic classics from East and West such as Spring Festival Overturn, a joyful exuberant piece composed by Huanzhi Li, Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite ‘Trepak’, and a line-up of other enchanting classics and representative eastern and western works. They will highlight the concert with its grand returns with a perfect festival ambiance to the audiences.
As the featured musical event in the Happy Chinese New Year in Sydney, the concert will showcase diverse creativities and illuminate the depth and breadth of cultural celebrations.
With artistic support from China National Opera & Dance Drama Theatre, the concert is proudly presented by Ausfeng Events in association with the Oz-Sino Association for Advancement of Culture and Arts, and funded by the Multicultural NSW and sponsored by Wentworth Institute.
The concert is one of Sydney’s largest Lunar New Year celebrations in the year of the rabbit not to be missed.
