The “Legend of the Chinese Song Fairy” showcased at Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Arts Centre on Dec 14-17th, 2019, in a moving tale of bravery, oppression and love that came together during one spectacular night of opera performed by the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theatre (CNODDT) on two of Australia’s most celebrated stages.

This operatic performance delved into the myths and legends of Guangxi’s Zhuang ethic group, focusing in particular on the story of China’s cultural icon and legendary folk singer Liu Sanjie, also known as the Chinese “Song Fairy”. The opera combined moving dialogue with renowned folk music to create a truly enticing and memorable experience.
