Renowned Chinese baritone Liao Changyong and brilliant German pianist Hartmut Höll will make their debut to Australia and New Zealand in November this year. They perform Chinese Art Songs based on poems from one thousand years from the time of the Tang Dynasty (617- 907) to the present day.
Liao Changyong is regarded as "China's No. 1 Baritone”. His illustrious career has shone brightly on international opera and concert stages. He has played leading roles in numerous opera classics, including The Barber of Seville, Rigoletto, and A Masked Ball. In recent years, Liao has devoted himself to creating and performing original Chinese operas and art songs. Plácido Domingo once praised him as "a genuine, China-made, world-class singer."

The most distinguished baritone singer in modern China, an internationally renowned opera performer and a vocal music educationist, has won a number of awards in major domestic and international vocal competitions: top prize in the 41st French International Toulouse Singing Competition, Placido Domingo International Operalia Competition and the Norwegian Queen Songja International Music Competition, creating the miracle of a Chinese singer winning consecutively in the world’s top level competitions.
He has performed in a number of operas and concerts in cooperation with master musicians such as Plácido Domingo, Sergi Giménez Carreras, Ruth Ann Swansm, Lorin Maazel, Michel Plasson, Yu Long, Lü Jia, and dozens of the world’s top orchestras. Together, they have brought to life dozens of classic operas and performed in over a thousand concerts, both Chinese and international. Hartmut Höll is a renowned German pianist and the president of the Karlsruhe University of Music. He has performed alongside top singers from many countries and has recorded collaborative albums with numerous well-known musicians, winning multiple international awards. He has also been invited numerous times to serve as a judge or chairperson of the jury at top international music competitions.
