China National Opera House, one of China’s foremost national opera companies, makes its highly anticipated debut in Australia with Opera Spectacular: East Meets West, presenting an extraordinary evening that brings together the finest of Western opera and Chinese musical artistry.

Founded in 1952, China National Opera House represents the highest level of operatic performance in China. With a distinguished ensemble of leading singers and musicians, the company has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, earning international acclaim for its artistic excellence.

This concert is conducted by Yuan Ding, Principal Permanent Conductor of the company, and features a stellar cast of acclaimed vocalists, including tenors Li Shuang and Han Junyu, sopranos Wang Ye, Li Jingjing and Wang Qingshuang, baritone Geng Zhe, and bass Song Fengrun—artists who are widely recognised on major stages in China and internationally.

The programme spans both Western and Chinese classics, featuring highlights from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Verdi’s La Traviata, Bizet’s Carmen, and Puccini’s Turandot, alongside beloved Chinese works such as the Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto, My Homeland, and Honghu Waters.

Marking the centenary of Puccini’s Turandot, the concert will include iconic arias such as Nessun dorma, culminating in a powerful finale performed by the full ensemble.

More than a concert, this is a vibrant artistic dialogue across cultures—where the passion of Western opera meets the poetic spirit of Chinese music—offering audiences a unique and unforgettable experience.
