Tea Expo at the 2018 Chinese Cultural Festival

“Spend a day at Darling Harbour and lose yourself in China”

China’s finest tea makers arrived on Sydney’s shores for the Chinese Cultural Festival and Tea Expo held at ICC Darling Harbour from Nov 23-15, 2018.

The harvesting, brewing and consumption of tea is a Chinese tradition dating back more than 5,000 years. This November, Sydney-siders had the chance to immerse themselves in this rich tradition as more than twenty tea producers from seven provinces in China showcased their finest blends at the 2018 Chinese Cultural Festival Tea Expo. They were accompanied by ten Chinese Tea Masters who performed a series of ancient Chinese tea ceremonies at the expo.

The Expo also featured a collection of displays, tea tasting, fine ceramics, traditional teapots, teacups and brewing instruments that were all be made available for purchase on the day. Many locals even found themselves enjoying the refined traditions of the tea ceremony as much as the taste of the beverage itself.

For those in the hospitality, tourism, wholesale, and speciality retail industries, the Expo was a great opportunity to catch up on the latest tea trends while establishing connections with figures in the world’s finest international tea market.

An enticing array of Chinese wine and spirits was put on display at the expo which also featured sampling sessions of China’s unique “baijiu” spirits, including products from the Moutai range (China’s most well-renowned brand of baijiu). The expo also included a range of family-friendly activities such as traditional Chinese dance and music displays alongside a captivating collection of traditional and contemporary Chinese artworks.

The Finance Pavillion area featured a number of exhibition hosts from the trades sector, including specialists in imports, exports, and trade financing. Experts at the Blockchain Information Seminar explained the ins and outs of blockchain technology, the growth of crypto currencies, and the risks and benefits of dealing in crypto. Speakers also touched on how Chinese businesses are positioning themselves in this new financial landscape, including China’s enthusiastic role in the blockchain patent market. The Forum also featured a number of local Australian companies who pitched business opportunities to Chinese investors.
