China Village 2017 National Multicultural Festival

An inaugural China Village was held on the 17-19th of Februrary at Canberra’s 2017 National Multicultural Festival (NMF). The National Multicultural Festival (NMF) is a community-based cultural festival held annually in Canberra during February each year with the main purpose of providing a platform for cultural exchange to take place between different ethnic communities.

This year’s festival included a colourful pop-up “China Village” that featured an exciting array of outdoor performances, exhibition booths and merchandise stalls showcasing the rich depths of Chinese culture and traditional arts. Participants also had the unique opportunity to experience live Chinese music and dance performances alongside demonstrations of traditional handcrafts, calligraphy, painting, tea ceremonies, and a hearty collection of gastronomic delights.
